Using a computer system for Modeling a River System is a powerful tool
in river engineering. The model is subject to a variety of elements,
these being upstream flooding, upstream construction and mining, storm
events and other behavioral effects.
Different modifications and behavioral effects can be applied and tested
to the model before they take effect. A scheme for flood defense can
be applied to the model and tested for 100yr or even a 500yr flood events
without risk to the local population or environment.
The Model is subject to verified actual rainfall data, data from gauging
stations along the river where available, and records of actual flood
events.
